Enjoy the Life You Have?
Small steps can make huge changes toward living a healthy life! Making small changes in our daily habits can improve our mood, outlook and energy. When my children were little and we would pray for our friends and family, we would pray for them to have healing spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Living a balanced and healthy life is a lot easier when we are able to take care of ourselves. It is critical to recognize that small changes need to be made in those three main areas:
Emotional
Building a community to do life with can help us find joy
- Get the help you need
- Journal
- Find support groups or friends to talk with
Balanced
Physical
Getting physically healthy can have a huge impact on how we feel
- Exercise
- Healthy Food
- Self-Care
- Getting enough rest
Healthy and Strong
Spiritual
Being centered on God is the first and most important step
- Prayer
- Reading the Bible
- Listening to sermons
- Worship
Centered on God
No matter where you are in your life journey, it is always a good time to ask yourself, ”How am I doing today…emotionally, physically, and spiritually?” Chances are that one or more of these areas could use a little bit of attention. Often we get busy with life or overwhelmed by our circumstances and start to neglect one or more of these main areas.
The Secret to Enjoying the Life You Have is to:
- Recognize where you are
- Analyze if anything needs to be changed (spiritually, physically, and emotionally)
- Make small steps to help those areas get stronger
- Accept and acknowledge the positive things you do have (even while having limitations)
- Find ways to practice thankfulness (either with prayer, friends, journaling, etc.). As you see positive changes in your life, be thankful for them!
My life has not always been easy, so I understand that we can get stuck sometimes. Yet, I also know that there is a God who died for our sins so that we could spend eternity with him. His sacrifice was not so we could go around this life miserable, he wants us to live life…and to live it abundantly! What does this abundant life look like? A life of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. An abundant life is not about partying to satisfy our latest desires, but to be so in love with God that what we desire are all the great things in God’s character.
